John & Sue Adams

Founders & Owners >

John and Sue Adams are dedicated to promoting tennis as a family sport of a lifetime. As USPTA certified tennis professionals, Jon and Sue have been working together for over 20 years happily teaching a promoting the sport of tennis. John attended Baylor University on a tennis scholarship and played briefly in Europe on the satellite tour. Sue played college tennis at Springfield College where she earned an undefeated march play record. Before teaching tennis full time, Sue taught school at the Friends Academy in Dartmouth, Massachusetts. In addition to his responsibilities with Service Line, John continues to practice law in both Maryland and DC. They also have three children; Mark, Wesley, and Drew; and 2 grandchildren, Grace and Conner.

Mark DiChiara

Named the USPTA Maryland Teaching Pro of the Year in 2013 and 2016, Mark has been the Director of Tennis at GPTC since 2006. He is also on the USPTA Mid-Atlantic board of directors. He was also named 2012 USTA Tournament Director of the Year. Prior to working at Prep, Mark spent five summers working at Sea Pines Racquet Club in Hilton Head, South Carolina and two years teaching tennis in Australia. Mark graduated from Ferris State University with a degree in Professional Tennis Management and also played for their college tennis team.

Jim Shepard

"The winningest player in the history of the Tiger men's tennis program, Jim Shepard '89 was inducted into the Towson Hall of Fame in 2013.
From 1990 to 2006 he coached at the 4-Star Tennis Program. He served as the assistant director of the junior program for six years before becoming the director/Co owner of the program in 1996.
Jim has coached several players that have played on the ATP tour as well as NCAA champions.

From 2006-2018, Jim served as the director of tennis at The Edgemoor Club in Bethesda, Md. 
In 2011, he was selected as one of the top five tennis professionals in the Washington area by Washingtonian Magazine. He also won the Men's Mid-Atlantic 40's Clay Court championship in 2009.

Anthony Kountouris

Anthony is from Rhodes Greece and joined us in January of 2016. Anthony represented Greece on the National Junior Tennis team in 1995 and was an assistant coach for the team in 2007. He played college tennis for Tyler Junior College and Ferris State University. During his time in college tennis he was a two time national champion and and All-American. After college he returned home to Greece to begin his career as a tennis professional and even started his own academy.  At the club, Anthony is our Director of Junior Development, coaches our junior team and co-directs our summer camp.

Eric Doidge

GPTC Director of Beginner/Intermediate Junior Tennis Programming and Co-Summer Camp Director >

Eric joined us in 2010 after graduating from Dickinson College with a degree in political science. In 2011 and 2012 he taught and played tennis at the Margaret Court Tennis Academy in Albury, Australia. After returning to the United States, he came back to Prep as a full time professional and has been teaching all ages and abilities ever since.   At the club Eric is Director of Beginner/Intermediate Junior Tennis Programming and co-director of our summer camps.

Raul Molina

Raul has been at GPTC since 2003. He has a very decorated tennis background that culminated in a #1 ranking in El Salvador in 1996. He competed professionally in both Davis Cup and ATP Satellite tournaments. Raul was the captain of El Salvador's Fed Cup team and the captain for the country's National Junior Tennis Team.  Here, he developed the Mid-Atlantic Junior Tennis Academy, instructs Georgetown Prep's varsity tennis team, and teaches adult and junior clinics while conducting private lessons for all ages and abilities.

Jason Excell

Jason played college tennis at the California Polytechnic where he played number 1 doubles and number 4 singles while getting an electrical engineering degree.  He has been teaching at the club for over ten years.  He teaches junior and adult programs, has coached the Holy Cross tennis team and gives private lessons.  Certifications:  USTA and  PTR.

Ross Howe

Ross joined the GPTC Staff in December 2017 and has been teaching tennis for over twenty years now. he began playing tennis at age seven and trained at the John Newcomb Academy in Texas as a junior then went on to play college tennis at Lousiana State University. You may know Ross from his work at the Montgomery County Tennis Center. Ross is certified in Adult Development, 10 and under development and High Performance tennis by the PTR.  Ross is the club Red and Orange Ball specialist, developing our youngest players under the protocols of USTA Net Generation.  Ross is also the Summer Camp Director at he North Chevy Chase pool.  Certifications: PTR

Rob Millwater

Rob is a native of Kensington, MD and grew up playing tennis on teams at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School and West Virginia Wesleyan College.

 

He has coached and taught tennis at Our Lady of Good Counsel, the Academy of the Holy Cross, Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, the YMCA in Bethesda/Silver Spring, The Aspen Hill Club, and Edgemoor Club.

He is PTR certified and available for group and private lessons.

Justin Reid

Justin was a Division 1 Scholarship Player at North Carolina A&T 

He specializes in developing Junior  & Adult Club Programs for 

all ages and levels. 

Works with red green and orange ball all the way to high performance high school players. Focus on technique and strategy and fitness to develop the complete player
